There is so much uncertainty around at the moment because of the covid situation that I have decided to carry on working for the foreseeable future from home.
Since last year I have been working from my home office very successfully. I obviously have my own accounting software Sage 50, & Moneysoft Payroll, but can also access any cloud based software used by my clients. For some clients I use a VPN (virtual private network) connection and work directly into their office pc.

The benefits of working this way far outweigh the downsides. At the moment I have 60+ clients and keeping them up to date used to lead to peaks and troughs in work flow, However since working remotely this has become far easier to control and time manage, benefiting not only myself but you the client.

If we need to discuss anything I usually use email or phone, but for more detailed conversations and meetings, Microsoft Teams and Zoom are best. There is no travel time for me so once again my working time is not time spent driving to and from meetings etc. Meaning every client now has my full focus and attention whilst I am working on their accounts. Recent studies from the ONS have indicated working from home can be more beneficial. 

I think this is the way many people will carry on working and cannot recommend it enough, but it really is a case of horses for courses and feeling comfortable and naturally some people need that daily physical interaction.
Just some personal thoughts on a subject I’m sure will keep coming up in future weeks and months ahead.
